The 19th Annual Graduate Student Conference, “In a Word”, took place Saturday, April 18, thanks to the participation of presenters and volunteers from across the College of LLL. The conference included an opening address from Dean Carroll, a poignant and provocative keynote from LLL’s own ku‘ualoha ho‘omanawanui, and presentations from 20 graduate students. The conference was attended by approximately 80 people from the UH community. We would like to offer special thanks to conference co-chairs Emily Gazda (SLS), Samuel Aguirre (SLS), Scott Ka‘alele (ENG), Kristyn Martin (EALL), Lenisi Pasi (ENG), and Andrew Rouse (SLS). Also, the conference would not have been possible without the guidance of conference advisory board members Lucía Aranda, Jim Yoshioka, and Karin Mackenzie. And finally, a special thanks to all of the volunteers who made the conference run smoothly, and the support of the community who came to listen, learn, and share. Aloha.
